In May, SIDRA’s Consultant Ms Aziah Hussin travelled to Seoul, South Korea, to deliver remarks on behalf of SIDRA at the 15th Annual Asian Law Institute Conference (ASLI), hosted by the Seoul National University School of Law. The Conference explored the theme of “Law into the Future: Perspectives from Asia.” The Conference featured the first panel of its kind to examine the upcoming UNCITRAL Treaty on the Enforcement of International Settlement Agreements. Ms Hussin presented on the paper she co-wrote with SIDRA’s Academic Director, Professor Nadja Alexander, titled “UNCITRAL Convention and Model Law on Enforcement of iMSAs and Upcoming Trends in the IDR Landscape.” Ms Hussin highlighted ten key trends in international dispute resolution, with a focus on the institutionalisation of cross-border mediation, acceptance of diversity in cross-border mediation practices, the emergence of online dispute resolution, and new features in the international framework for enforcement.

Joining Ms Hussin on the specialised panel were Professor Eunice Chua of SMU School of Law; Professor Joel Lee of NUS School of Law, and Dr Shahla Ali from the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law.
